Easy Tiger
A SCHEME to promote safer drinking in Lancaster has received an award from the
High Sheriff of Lancashire 2006-07, Peter Robinson. The 'Easy Tiger' project, which is backed by the police,
Lancaster University and all Lancaster Town Centre pubs and clubs, aims to make
people more aware of the health cost of drinking to excess and target anti-social
behaviour.
Crime Prevention Officer Jan Brown from Lancaster police station said
she was delighted to receive the award saying: “Easy Tiger has seen a host of
groups come together to help keep Lancaster a safe place to drink. It has been
really successful and we are all delighted to see the scheme recognised in such a way."
An evaluation of the scheme showed that there were significant reductions
in the number of alcohol related assaults and criminal damage for the October to
December 2006 period, during which this scheme was being actively promoted.
